No Open Source means that the source code is free. This means that people who program and editing software to edit the source code and software that came with the software. Open source software is also free. Google Docs & Spreadsheets is free, but that does not mean it is open source. An open source program similar to Microsoft Office or Google Documents is OpenOffice. Look at that one. It is free and open source.

Open-source code is freely available, anyone can make changes and where possible, enhance and distribute. I think the source of Google Docs is not open during much of their software.
A similar product is ThinkFree (http://www.thinkfree.com/) who, like Google Docs offers an online office suite.
Another alternative is Open Office and Portable AbiWord Portable (available in section http://portableapps.com/apps Office) that lets you launch a word processor (AbiWord over) or a complete package of office to enable (OpenOffice) from a USB drive. There is nothing to be written into the register with these programs if it is not technically installed, but do not think that what he like with "does not install. I listed them all.
Open Source means the source code is freely available to anyone who wants to see the source code. Free software is developed primarily through a community.
And the documents that Google certainly does not.
An open-source program transformation AbiWord Word

Open Source means any application or software source code freely use, develop and publish, distribute (self only), without a license.
Modern Day Applications OFFICE online. As say much about Google, which is based on Java (Servelet) basis.
"Zoho Office is another Office application online free, with more functionality compared to Google Desktop.
Another example of online applications MED.

Sound Line - www.online-sound-editor.qarchive.org
Source documents from Google is not open.
Open source means that any programmer who knows how to get the program going and to change you change it (in theory) better. Open Office offers a free word processor, but you must download and install it. I do not know whether there is such a thing as an open-source word processor that can be used online.
